Another classic half century for Rahul Dravid |

Rahul Dravid in an ODI at India |
It came as a surprise for Rahul Dravid and his fans when he was called back to the Indian ODI squad for the England Series.Rahul Dravid himself said that he was very surprised at being selected and said it was an honour to be part of the team again.He has been out of the ODI squad since two years after lack of form.The 38 year old player commented that he was happy to be part of the team again and also announced his retirement after the series ends.Rahul Dravid commented that
Since I had not been picked for one-day cricket for the last two years, I was obviously a little surprised,To be honest, because I had not been picked, I had not informed the selectors or the board of my desire to solely focus on Test cricket.
At the end of this one-day series, I would like to announce my retirement from one-day and Twenty20 cricket and concentrate only on Test cricket. I am committed, as always to give my best to India in this one-day series and obviously the Test series that follows.

He said he will be concentrating more on Test Cricket after his retirement from ODI and T20 cricket.
RD currently holds the record of being the seventh highest rungetter in ODI's even after being out for 2 years and was the top scorer of the 1999 England World Cup.

Ultimately Rahul overtakes Sachin!
With bitter taste of the defeat of the country I wanted to share something with fellow Dravid followers which could perhaps cheer them up.
The unfortunate part of this sharing is that, had india won this series Dravid would have been lost in the glories os some Sachins, Sehwags, Gambhirs.etc which has been a routine following for us.
Watching closely for last 15 years alomost, to tell you, I never saw such praise to Rahul Dravid by media or anyone . His contributions were never ever respected and i thought may be it was in the destiny of RD and being a fan of him; mine. When India started their voyage to England, in every indian mind, barring few of like us, there was only one thing : Not a series win but Sachin's 100th ton! I felt hurt as ususal. A bitter pill to digest because the same old virus was ready to eat out all the credits of rest of the 10 players........ if Sachin scores 100, the heading would had been as if Sachin was the lone representation of India., may be this disregard of the rest of the pack made me to follow someone who was suppressed in indian cricket team and the most. The natural choice was Rahul Dravid.Today, when india is whitewashed, I am satisfied in otherway. Though the nation is bigger than an individual, I want to take this opportunity as dravid to be hailed as a national hero...a everstanding wall..media has of late been very generous to him these days you know!
It took me 15 long years to get the real satisfaction; first time I saw a shower of praise for the deserving player and first time I saw Sachin Tendulkar's aura overshadowed by Dravid. And first time I did not feel miserable being Rahul Dravid fan! .
@Jai
Very well said Jai.
This series proved RD's worth !.It was always the team first for Dravid, Sadly a very few people realized that.
